Provision of Safety Diagnosis and Degradation·Lifetime Prediction Software
LG Energy Solution introduced a new brand, 'B.around,' on the 25th to expand its Battery Management Solution (BMTS) business.
BMTS is an enhanced service compared to the existing Battery Management System (BMS), combining cloud and artificial intelligence (AI) technologies to provide safety diagnostics, degradation and lifespan prediction software, and solutions for software-defined vehicle (SDV) platforms. It is a proprietary product of LG Energy Solution.

As interest in the safe use of electric vehicles grows, BMS, which monitors data such as battery current, voltage, and temperature to help the battery perform optimally and detect potential issues in advance, is gaining attention.
The BMTS product lineup is divided into ▲ BMS software (safety diagnostics and degradation/lifespan prediction) solutions ▲ BMS hardware solutions ▲ solutions for SDV platforms. The core function of the software solution is to diagnose possible defect types in advance and check the battery’s degradation status to manage the battery for long-term healthy use. Based on the software solution, an advanced BMS hardware solution is also provided to deliver differentiated customer value.
Additionally, LG Energy Solution is developing system-on-chip (SoC) based technology through collaboration with semiconductor companies such as Qualcomm. LG Energy Solution stated, "We are innovatively improving the existing BMS based on over 20 years of accumulated BMS design capabilities, more than 8,000 overwhelming BMS-related patents, and analysis of various demonstration data."
LG Energy Solution’s BMTS was developed based on demonstration data from disassembling and analyzing more than 130,000 battery cells and over 1,000 modules. It has been applied to more than 100,000 electric vehicles, achieving a safety diagnostic detection rate of over 90%, and the degradation diagnostic error rate is at the industry’s highest level of around 1%.
Kim Hyun-jun, head of LG Energy Solution’s Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) business division, said, "Among battery manufacturers, LG Energy Solution is the only one providing battery lifecycle management services including BMS solutions. We will provide differentiated customer value, living up to the meaning of always being by the customer’s side with our accumulated battery technology capabilities."
