Expansion of 'Social Consideration Window' for Disabled, Pregnant Women, and Others to Include Civil Petitioners Accompanied by Infants and Young Children
New Sign Language Interpretation Consultation Window for Hearing and Speech-Impaired, Improvement of Unmanned Civil Petition Issuance Machines for Wheelchair Users at Courts
Seongdong-gu, Seoul (Mayor Jeong Wono) announced that it will improve the facilities of the Happy Civil Service Office on the first floor of the district office building to provide enhanced civil service for vulnerable groups.
First, the district has expanded the eligibility for the 'Social Consideration Counter' within the Happy Civil Service Office to include civil petitioners accompanied by infants and young children. This is a considerate measure to shorten the waiting time for civil service use, as it is difficult to wait in line due to breastfeeding and attending to children's physiological needs. The 'Social Consideration Counter' is a civil service issuance counter for people with disabilities or pregnant women, where they can receive integrated civil service issuance without having to wait in line after taking a number.
Additionally, the district has established a 'Sign Language Interpretation Service Consultation Counter' in cooperation with the Seongdong-gu Sign Language Interpretation Center for civil petitioners with hearing and speech disabilities. An electronic board for written communication has also been installed. It is expected to resolve inconveniences such as the need to shred paper for privacy protection when using the existing memo board or ink stains on clothing.
Improvements have also been made to the unmanned civil service issuance machines for the disabled. The screen of the unmanned civil service issuance machine was located at the top of the machine, which often caused inconvenience when using the device in a wheelchair.
Therefore, the district added a separate touch monitor in the center of the machine and enhanced its performance to improve user convenience. In the future, additional unmanned civil service issuance machines with enhanced convenience features for the disabled will be installed and operated.
Since obtaining the first certification for the 'National Happiness Civil Service Office' in 2017, the district has been re-certified in 2020 and again in 2023, receiving recognition as a top-level civil service environment and service institution nationwide.
Jeong Wono, Mayor of Seongdong-gu, said, “We are improving facilities and enhancing convenience so that civil petitioners can receive high-quality services without inconvenience,” adding, “We will continue to implement customized administrative services to add happiness to the daily lives of our residents.”
