It was established to encourage social workers who are dedicated to supporting vulnerable groups and the public good in the region, and to contribute to providing better welfare services.
Chairman Cho Sungje of the Daesun Public Interest Foundation said, "I would like to thank the social workers for their dedication and hard work in making our community a better place. I hope the Daesun Social Worker Awards will continue to empower many social workers and serve as a foundation for the development of local social welfare."
The Daesun Public Interest Foundation is the first private public interest foundation in Busan, established in 2005 by Daesun Distilling, a local company celebrating its 94th anniversary this year, as part of its ESG management initiatives.
From 2007 to this year, the foundation has selected 832 social workers from Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam and has provided a total of 1.387 billion KRW in support. In addition, it has consistently carried out various social contribution activities in welfare, education, and culture, such as free meal programs for the underprivileged and scholarships for university students majoring in social welfare.
