Joint Implementation with Busan Port Construction Office
Changshin University on the 23rd, Daegu Science University on the 24th
Busan Port Authority (BPA, President Kang Junseok) and the Busan Port Construction Office of the Busan Regional Office of Oceans and Fisheries (Bugeonso, Director Gong Dupyo) conducted the '2024 Busan Port Construction and Operation Field Experience' program for students from construction-related departments of Changshin University and Daegu Science University on September 23 and 24.
This program aims to provide university students aspiring to become future construction experts with a vivid on-site opportunity to experience how Busan Port, the largest container port in Korea and the seventh largest in the world, is constructed and operated.
The participants visited major construction sites such as the Busan New Port, the world's second-largest container transshipment hub, and the North Port redevelopment area, which is being transformed into a public leisure space. There, they received detailed explanations about port construction processes and various specialized construction methods currently applied (such as soft ground improvement, diaphragm wall method, underpinning method, top-down method, etc.), while observing the actual construction status.
They also directly checked the operational status of New Port Terminal 7, the first automated terminal in Korea, and the terminals at North Port, thereby deepening their understanding of the overall construction and operation of ports.
BPA Construction Headquarters Director Lee Sangkwon stated, "We plan to continue collaborating with the Busan Port Construction Office to provide university students with opportunities to experience port construction sites, which are usually difficult to access, and to enhance their understanding of the excellence of domestic port construction technology and the port logistics industry through ongoing field experience programs."
