First Visit of Newly Appointed Mayor Wemit Akpinar Expected to Boost Exchange and Cooperation
Chamber of Commerce Plans Inspection and Experience of Key Facilities in Cleaning, Sports, Parks, and Integrity Sectors
Gwangjin District (District Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) announced that a delegation from Ere?li District, a sister city in Turkey, will make an official visit from September 23 to 27.
Ere?li District signed a friendship cooperation agreement in 2001 and has maintained over 20 years of friendship through steady exchanges. The delegation consists of four members, including Mayor ?mit Akpınar of Ere?li District, who was elected in the March local elections in Turkey. The visit was arranged to discuss exchange projects and joint development plans between the two cities.
The delegation will arrive at Incheon International Airport on the 23rd and carry out a five-day schedule. On the morning of the 24th, Gwangjin District Mayor Kim Kyung-ho personally welcomed the delegation. The program included a welcome speech, discussions on revitalizing exchanges, gift exchanges, and commemorative photos. In the afternoon, they toured the Gwangjin District Council and the Gwangjin Citizen Sports Center.
The delegation continues with a busy schedule, learning about Gwangjin District’s excellent administration through ▲sharing best practices in the district’s integrity policies ▲a meeting with the Chamber of Commerce and a visit to the Gwangjin Economic Hub Center ▲a tour of the Gwangjin District Cleaning Department and Gangnam Resource Recovery Facility ▲inspection of Gwangjin Square park facilities. They will also visit the Busan United Nations Park to pay respects at the graves of Korean War veterans and explore nearby tourist attractions.
Gwangjin District Mayor Kim Kyung-ho said, “Thank you for coming such a long way. Ere?li District in Turkey covers an area of 2,271 km² with a population of about 150,000. It is known for sugar beet cultivation, livestock farming, and dairy industries.
