This export volume consists of 13 tons of Hwasan pears and Hwanggeum pears, worth about 50 million KRW. Starting with Australia this year, exports to the United States, Taiwan, and other countries totaling about 200 tons are expected to generate approximately 1 billion KRW in income.

Gochang pears are cultivated in loess soil rich in minerals. Growing while exposed to the sea breeze of the West Coast, they have thin skin, tender flesh, and boast high sweetness. Recently, they have captivated consumers in the United States, Taiwan, Vietnam, and other countries, enhancing the reputation of Korean pears.

Shim Deokseop, the mayor of Gochang-gun, said, "I congratulate the farmers who have worked hard to produce high-quality pears despite difficult conditions such as heatwaves," and added, "We will do our best to expand exports of Gochang pears to various countries."
