Suspected of 'Cabbage Theft', a Man in His 70s Pushes Acquaintance in His 60s to Death
Police "Autopsy Requested to Confirm Cause of Death"
A woman in her 70s was arrested by the police for causing the death of a man in his 60s after pushing him down during a dispute over 'cabbage theft' at a farm in Icheon, Gyeonggi Province.
The Icheon Police Station announced on the 24th that they had arrested Ms. A, a woman in her 70s, on charges of assault resulting in death and were investigating her. Ms. A is accused of pushing Mr. B, the victim, down at his farm located in Doriri, Daewol-myeon, Icheon City, around 7:20 a.m. that day, causing his death.
The two were acquaintances who knew each other. According to the police investigation, Mr. B believed that Ms. A had taken about ten heads of his cabbage and was arguing with her. When Mr. B attempted to report the matter to the police, Ms. A pushed him backward, causing him to fall. Mr. B lost consciousness after falling onto the dirt ground, and Ms. A then called 119, saying "a person has collapsed."
The police arrived at the scene and arrested Ms. A. Mr. B was transported to a hospital in Icheon in cardiac arrest and was ultimately pronounced dead.
The police have requested an autopsy from the National Forensic Service to determine the exact cause of death and are investigating the circumstances of the incident with Ms. A.
