2030 Interpolar Academic Conference on the Arctic and Antarctic to be Held in Korea

The Korea Polar Research Institute (Director Shin Hyung-chul) announced on the 24th that South Korea has been selected as the host country for the 2030 Joint SCAR-IASC Polar Conference.

The Joint SCAR-IASC Polar Conference 2030 is an academic conference organized by the Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research (SCAR) and the International Arctic Science Committee (IASC), international organizations of Antarctic and Arctic researchers, to promote joint research and international cooperation encompassing both the Antarctic and the Arctic.

More than 2,000 polar scientists from around the world are expected to attend the 2030 Joint SCAR-IASC Polar Conference. As the host country, South Korea will participate from the planning stage, including setting research topic directions, aiming to use this event as an opportunity to elevate the status of polar science research.

Shin Hyung-chul, Director of the Korea Polar Research Institute, said, "The 2030 Joint SCAR-IASC Polar Conference will showcase South Korea's passion for polar research to the world and serve as an opportunity for our citizens to take greater interest in polar research."
