Data Analysis... Leading Innovation in Smart Agriculture
Suncheon National University (President Lee Byung-woon) announced that it is leading smart agriculture innovation through the 'Big Data Center' operated at the Smart Farm Innovation Valley in Goheung, Jeonnam.
The Goheung Smart Farm Innovation Valley has established itself as the first smart agriculture hub in the Jeonnam region, providing data-driven technical support to young farmers and smart farm households to enhance the efficiency of agricultural operations.

The Jeonnam Goheung Smart Farm Innovation Valley Big Data Center analyzes data collected from management-type, rental-type, and demonstration-type smart farms to support farm operations by developing its own ‘Big Data Platform for Smart Greenhouse Production Environment Management’ and ‘Jeonnam Goheung-type Big Data Consulting Service,’ which are provided to young farmers within the Innovation Valley. It is also evaluated as contributing to the establishment of a sustainable smart agriculture new industry ecosystem by supporting technology development for related industries.
In particular, the newly opened Green Smart Farm Goheung Campus this month is conducting smart agriculture data analysis education in connection with the Big Data Center, aiming to train 500 young talents, nurture 35 local small and medium enterprises, and achieve 250 lifelong education participants in industry-academia collaboration.
The campus will support practical training and technology development and will conduct field-customized education using smart farm demonstration greenhouses and big data.
Professor Shin Chang-seon, head of the Big Data Center (Director of the Intelligent Technology Research Institute), said, “We will do our best to ensure that the big data collected at the Smart Farm Innovation Valley is not merely collected but provided as various services that can be practically utilized by field farmers.”
The Big Data Center management team is developing various services combining infrastructure and artificial intelligence technology, improving data quality, and conducting growth surveys, thereby opening a new paradigm in smart agriculture.
