Namyangju City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Joo Gwang-deok) was honored with the Grand Prize in the '2024 Senior Employment Project Comprehensive Evaluation' at the 2024 Senior Employment Ceremony hosted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare on the 23rd.

The city achieved the remarkable feat of ranking first among 229 cities, counties, and districts nationwide this year, following its receipt of the Grand Prize in last year's senior employment comprehensive evaluation, marking two consecutive years of awards.

In particular, the city received high praise for expanding the senior public employment project by investing a budget of 22.6 billion KRW as a pledge project of the 8th local government administration this year.

This year, a total of 5,199 participants took part in the senior employment project (△ Public Interest Activity Type 3,205 △ Social Service Type 1,221 △ Market Type 545 △ Employment Referral Type 228), an increase of 12.2% compared to 4,635 participants last year. This achievement was made possible through systematic policies and cooperation with senior employment executing agencies.

The Namyangju Silver Human Resources Bank was selected as an excellent executing agency, receiving a ministerial citation and an incentive of 25 million KRW. Additionally, the Namyangju Senior Club and the Employment Support Center of the Korea Senior Citizens Association Namyangju Branch were also selected as excellent executing agencies, each receiving an incentive of 5 million KRW, recognizing their active cooperation.

Choi Jae-woong, Director of the Welfare Bureau, stated, “Senior employment not only provides income sources for the elderly but also helps restore self-esteem through social participation, and its popularity is increasing day by day.” He added, “We will continue to strive to develop high-quality senior employment opportunities for the healthy and vibrant later years of our city’s elderly.”
