Korea and Japan United by Humanity... Lee Geunyong, President of Daegu Cyber University, Attends the Kagawa Toyohiko Society in Japan Lee Geunyong, president of Daegu Cyber University, is attending the 36th Kagawa Toyohiko Society and delivering the opening remarks.

The Kagawa Toyohiko Society is an academic society commemorating Reverend Kagawa Toyohiko (1888-1960), Japan's first social worker. Reverend Kagawa was a leading figure in Japan's poverty and labor movements and a social activist. The late Reverend Lee Youngsik, founder of Youngkwang Academy Foundation, was an alumnus of Kobe Theological Seminary during his studies in Japan, just like Reverend Kagawa.

In his opening remarks, President Lee Geunyong stated, "The late Reverend Lee Youngsik was deeply inspired by Reverend Kagawa Toyohiko, who devoted himself to the poor and underprivileged in slums at the time. Upon returning to his homeland, he dedicated his entire life to the special education of people with disabilities in Korea, who were marginalized by prejudice and discrimination, until the day he passed away."

President Lee plans to discuss the possibility of holding a joint academic conference with the Kagawa Toyohiko Foundation, Daegu University, and Daegu Cyber University in 2026, marking the 80th anniversary of Youngkwang Academy Foundation, in order to carry on the noble spirit of both reverends.
