"Youth Opening the Future of Gwangyang City"... Gwangyang Youth Festival to be Held

Gwangyang City to Hold 'Youth Day' Event on 28th
Proclaims Youth-Friendly City... Also Hosts Talk Concert

Gwangyang City in Jeollanam-do announced that it will hold the ‘2024 Gwangyang City Youth Day’ event on the 28th, starting at 1 PM, at the Citizen Square in front of Gwangyang City Hall to celebrate Youth Day.


Youth Day, observed annually on the third Saturday of September, is a legal commemorative day established to promote the protection of youth rights, the importance of youth policy development, and to raise public awareness of youth issues. The Youth Day commemorative event hosted by Gwangyang City will be held for the third time this year, following the events in 2022 and 2023.

Pre-event programs include a youth singing contest and a talk concert featuring a special guest. The main ceremony will express the city’s commitment to being designated a youth-friendly city, followed by a proclamation ceremony for the youth-friendly city, and a congratulatory performance by invited singers.


The youth singing contest, starting at 1 PM, will showcase the singing talents of passionate young people who love music. At 2 PM, the talk concert will feature food columnist Hwang Kyo-ik, who will share interesting stories about youth entrepreneurship.


The main ceremony will include congratulatory performances by youth, awards for contributors to the development of youth policies, and a proclamation ceremony for ‘Youth-Friendly City Gwangyang’ using sand art.


Starting at 6:30 PM, the final segment of the event will feature five teams, including singer Kim Jang-hoon, [Sikboy, Gyeonji (former Gavy NJ), DJ ONE, Joy & Sir], delivering energetic congratulatory performances to support the youth.


Side events on the day will include ▲ flea markets ▲ experience and promotional booths ▲ congratulatory performances, offering a variety of programs that are expected to be enjoyed not only by youth but also by local residents.


Park Ju-young, head of the Youth Employment Division, said, “The Youth Day event was planned as a place of harmony where the young generation, the future of Gwangyang City, can enjoy and connect together. We ask for much interest and participation in this event, which was planned and prepared proactively by the youth themselves.” He added, “Gwangyang City will continue to support young people so that they can hold onto their dreams and hopes and move forward.”
