HD Hyundai Heavy Industries is participating in the largest defense exhibition in the Philippines to widely promote the competitiveness of K-ships.
HD Hyundai Heavy Industries announced that it will participate in the '5th Asian Defense and Security (ADAS 2024)' exhibition held for three days from the 25th at the Manila World Trade Center in the Philippines.
This exhibition, marking its 10th anniversary this year, will feature over 200 companies from 30 countries worldwide. Attendees include Philippine President Bongbong Marcos, Defense Minister Gilberto Teodoro, Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Romeo Brawner, and Navy Commander Toribio Adaci. More than 15,000 visitors from around the world are expected to attend.
At the exhibition, HD Hyundai Heavy Industries will set up a 168㎡ booth and display 12 ship models, including the next-generation frigate developed for export, patrol vessels, and submarines.
Additionally, as part of the ship maintenance and repair (MRO) business, the company plans to actively promote the 'Lifetime Support Service' currently provided to the Philippine Navy.
HD Hyundai Heavy Industries is conducting active sales activities to expand ship orders in the Southeast Asian region as a 'Total Solution Provider' covering everything from shipbuilding to MRO services.
Previously, HD Hyundai Heavy Industries secured a total of 10 ships in the 'Horizon' project, which the Philippine government promoted twice to modernize and strengthen its navy: 2 frigates (2016), 2 patrol vessels (2021), and 6 offshore patrol vessels (OPVs) (2022). Based on the trust relationship with the Philippine government, HD Hyundai Heavy Industries plans to continue exporting ships in the third military modernization program.
Joo Won-ho, Vice President and Head of the Special Ship Business at HD Hyundai Heavy Industries, said, "We are fully prepared to support the modernization and power enhancement of the Philippine Navy with the world's number one shipbuilding technology," adding, "Based on the achievements of ship exports and MRO business realized through strategic partnership with the Philippines, we will actively pursue a globalization strategy for ship exports."
HD Hyundai Heavy Industries plans to realize its 'Pan-Pacific Belt Vision' by establishing overseas bases in regions such as the Philippines, Peru, Australia, Saudi Arabia, and the United States through partnerships at overseas bases, establishing local construction systems, and standardizing technology transfer packages based on advanced ship technology.
