Imposition of Towing Fees on Companies Targeting Dongtan New City...
Hwaseong City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 23rd that it will crack down on parking and stopping violations of personal mobility devices (PM), such as electric kickboards and electric bicycles, targeting Dongtan 1 and 2 districts.

This crackdown aims to reduce the deterioration of the pedestrian environment and safety accidents caused by recent parking and stopping violations of shared PMs. The city plans to conduct a pilot crackdown starting with Dongtan 1 and 2 districts and gradually expand the enforcement areas. The main targets of the crackdown are PMs and electric bicycles parked outside designated PM parking lots or in no-parking and no-stopping zones.
The city will issue warning notices to the PMs and electric bicycles found in violation, and if they are not voluntarily collected within one hour, they will be towed. After towing, towing fees will be charged to the private PM companies.
Earlier, to address the issue of PM parking and stopping violations by private companies, the city established 400 dedicated parking lots, including parking racks and parking lines, in Dongtan 1 and 2 districts and the southwestern residential areas in June.
Jung Myung-geun, mayor of Hwaseong City, said, "Starting with this crackdown, we will work to establish parking order and create an environment where citizens can walk safely."
