Linking Tourist Sites like Folk Village with Giheung and Sanggal Stations
Ride-Booking Available via App
Yongin City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 23rd that it will operate 'Tabayong,' a tourism-oriented Demand Responsive Transit (DRT) service.
Tabayong is a transportation service connecting major tourist attractions in the Giheung-gu area, such as the Korean Folk Village, Gyeonggi Museum, Nam June Paik Art Center, and Singal Urban Regeneration Project site, with transportation hubs including Giheung Station, Sanggal Station, and Singal Bus Stop.
The city has installed 16 stops to facilitate convenient travel between major tourist sites and transportation hubs. Visitors using the Suin-Bundang subway line or intercity and express buses can easily tour famous tourist attractions. On weekdays, three buses and four on weekends will be deployed, with vehicle call service available from 8 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Inside the vehicles, dedicated monitors provide travel information and promotional videos about nearby major tourist sites.
Anyone can use the service, even if not for tourism purposes. Users can call a vehicle by selecting the number of passengers and destination via a mobile app at the boarding stop and pay the fare with a transportation card. The app can be accessed by scanning the QR code installed at each stop with a smartphone or by searching for 'Tabayong' or 'Yongin Tourism DRT' and installing the app.
The city will operate the service free of charge during a one-month trial period starting from today, after which a fare of 1,450 KRW for adults, the same as city buses, will be applied. Transportation cards can be used, and transfer discounts are also available.
A city official stated, "We will carefully pay attention to ensure there are no inconveniences in using Tabayong and encourage citizens' interest so that the service becomes widely known."
