Incheon Mayor Yoo Jeong-bok will visit Shenyang, the capital of Liaoning Province in China and its largest industrial city, from the 24th to the 27th.
Mayor Yoo will meet with Hao Feng, Secretary of Liaoning Province, and Wang Xinwei, Secretary of Shenyang City, to discuss establishing a platform for friendly exchanges and economic cooperation between the cities, and plans to actively support Incheon companies' entry into Northeast China.
He will also attend the 10th anniversary celebration of the sister city relationship between Incheon and Shenyang, as well as the Shenyang Korea Week event, actively promoting Incheon's appeal to expand cultural and tourism exchanges between the two cities.
On the 25th and 26th, he will participate in the International Friendly Cities Economic and Trade Conference hosted by Shenyang City and Liaoning Province, emphasizing Incheon's China policy direction, the necessity of Korea-China cooperation, Incheon's excellent investment infrastructure and growth vision, and the role of local cities in revitalizing corporate trade.
Notably, this visit will include Park Ju-bong, Chairman of the Incheon Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and businesspeople who will discuss cooperation plans with companies from Liaoning Province and Shenyang City.
Mayor Yoo said, "To commemorate the 10th anniversary of the sister city relationship, we will elevate the friendly cooperative relationship between the two cities to a higher level," adding, "I hope this will be an opportunity to establish an economic cooperation platform with Liaoning Province to support the advancement of Incheon companies and to activate private exchanges."
Meanwhile, Incheon has established sister city relationships with three cities in Liaoning Province: Shenyang, Dalian, and Dandong. Among them, Shenyang marked the 10th anniversary of their sister city relationship in June 2014. Over the years, the two cities have promoted high-level mutual visits, including mayors, and have maintained steady exchanges this year with visits to the Shenyang Korea Week event (April) and participation in the In-China Forum International Conference (September).
With a population of 9.14 million, Shenyang is a traditional manufacturing hub. Under President Xi Jinping's "Northeast Revitalization Plan," the city is focusing on innovating and modernizing existing manufacturing industries, strengthening support policies for future industries such as advanced manufacturing, robotics, artificial intelligence (AI), biotechnology, and eco-friendly energy.
