Operation of major public facilities linked to public transportation routes such as village buses without gaps in Kumho-dong, Eungbong-dong, Haengdang-dong, and Seongsu-dong areas... Circulating through a total of 22 stops including Seoul Forest Complex Culture and Sports Center, Seongdong-gu Office, and Dong Community Centers from 8 AM to 7 PM on weekdays... Opening ceremony held on September 30, followed by pilot operation until December this year to secure public transportation and lay the foundation for a sustainable Seongdong-type transportation system
Seongdong-gu, Seoul (Mayor Jeong Wono) announced that on October 2nd at 8 a.m., the first operation of the 'Seongdong-gu Public Facility Shuttle Bus (hereinafter referred to as Seonggong Bus)' will begin to enable residents to conveniently use essential public facilities within their living area.
The 'Seonggong Bus' passes through Kumho-dong, Eungbong-dong, Haengdang-dong, and Seongsu-dong, areas with gaps in public transportation routes such as village buses, and connects major public facilities established and operated by Seongdong-gu, including educational, cultural, artistic, and sports facilities, public libraries (smart libraries), Seongdong-gu Health Center and its branches, and district community service centers.
The route was selected by actively reflecting residents' opinions through surveys. It operates 22 stops including Seoul Forest Complex Culture Center, Sowol Art Hall, Seongdong-gu Office, Seongdong Child Love Complex Culture Center, Kumho 1-ga-dong Community Service Center (Seongdong-gu Health Center Kumho Branch), Seongsu Culture Welfare Center, and Seongsu 1-ga-dong Community Service Center. The operating hours are from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays.
Anyone who uses public facilities or is a transportation-vulnerable person can receive a boarding pass (QR code) and use the service free of charge. The boarding pass (QR code) for the 'Seonggong Bus' can be issued by accessing the dedicated public facility shuttle bus website, verifying eligibility, and completing mobile phone number authentication.
The boarding pass can be used by tapping it on the terminal when boarding the bus, and seniors aged 65 or older can board with just an ID card.
In particular, the dedicated website allows users to check route guidance to stops, real-time bus locations, and route information, enhancing convenience for users.
The 'Seonggong Bus' is scheduled for a pilot operation until December this year, and the district plans to actively reflect residents' opinions in future operations after sufficient collection.
Before the operation, the 'Seonggong Bus' opening ceremony will be held at 5 p.m. on Monday, September 30th, at Wangsimni Station Plaza. About 200 residents will attend, and the purpose of the 'Seonggong Bus' operation, usage methods, and wishes for safe operation will be introduced.
Jeong Wono, Mayor of Seongdong-gu, said, "'Mobility rights' are a natural right that residents should enjoy and an essential element for a better daily life for residents." He added, "Through the operation of the 'Seonggong Bus,' we will realize transportation welfare that embraces all residents, including the transportation-vulnerable, and strive to build a denser transportation network to improve residents' quality of life."
