Consensus on Dukovany Nuclear Power Plant Final Contract
Strengthening Cooperation Beyond Nuclear Power to Advanced Industries

President Yoon Suk-yeol departed for Korea on the 21st (local time) after completing a 4-day, 2-night official visit to the Czech Republic.
President Yoon and his wife, Kim Keon-hee, boarded the presidential aircraft, Air Force One, at V?clav Havel International Airport in the Czech Republic in the afternoon and headed to Korea.
President Yoon boarded the plane after being seen off by Eduard Hole?ius, Czech Deputy Foreign Minister, Ivan Jan??rek, Ambassador to Korea, Hong Young-ki, Ambassador to the Czech Republic, and Kim Myung-hee, President of the Korean Association.
President Yoon stayed in the Czech Republic from the 19th until this day, meeting with President Petr Pavel, Prime Minister Petr Fiala, Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies Mark?ta Pekarov? Adamov?, and President of the Senate Milo? Vystr?il to explore comprehensive cooperation measures in economic and security fields, including the nuclear power industry.
They reached a consensus on the final contract for the 24 trillion won Czech Dukovany nuclear power plant construction project, for which 'Team Korea,' including Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power, was selected as the preferred negotiator in July, and established a 'nuclear alliance' between the two countries.
President Yoon stated, "Taking the participation of our companies in the Dukovany nuclear power plant project as an opportunity, we will institutionalize comprehensive nuclear cooperation that goes beyond nuclear power plant construction to joint research and development and human resource training."
In this regard, President Yoon also announced plans to invest $37 million over the next 10 years to promote joint research and development in fields such as nuclear fuel technology, synthetic drugs, and artificial intelligence.
Through talks with Prime Minister Fiala, President Yoon adopted a joint statement to strengthen the strategic partnership between the two countries.
In the joint statement, both countries expressed their intention to strengthen cooperation in areas including nuclear power, trade and investment, science, technology and innovation, information and communication technology, cybersecurity, transportation and infrastructure, tourism, culture, and sports, and welcomed the adoption of the '2025-2027 Action Plan for the Implementation of the Korea-Czech Strategic Partnership.'
The two governments signed the 'Trade and Investment Promotion Framework (TIPF)' to institutionally support comprehensive cooperation across industries and agreed to expand joint research and human exchanges in fields such as aerospace, bio, advanced chemicals and materials, digital, and energy.
During the visit, a total of 56 MOUs and documents were signed, including MOUs on nuclear cooperation, Ukraine reconstruction cooperation, Vltava advanced industry cooperation vision, and battery cooperation.
President Yoon and Mrs. Kim are scheduled to arrive in Korea on the morning of the 22nd, Korean time.
