The agreement ceremony, hosted by Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power during President Yoon Suk-yeol's official visit to the Czech Republic, was arranged to expand and strengthen cooperation between the two countries in the nuclear power sector, following the selection of 'Team Korea' as the preferred bidder for the Czech nuclear power plant project.

The ceremony was attended by President Yoon, Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy An Deok-geun, President of Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Hwang Ju-ho, Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala, Minister of Industry and Trade Jozef S?kela, and Daniel Bene?, CEO of Czech Electricity Company, among other key government and nuclear industry figures from both countries.

Upon arriving at Doosan ?koda Power, President Yoon toured the production facilities under the guidance of Chairman Park Jung-won. Afterwards, President Yoon and Prime Minister Petr Fiala jointly signed a commemorative signature on a turbine blade manufactured by Doosan ?koda Power. This turbine blade is the same model as the product to be supplied to the Dukovany Nuclear Power Plant in the Czech Republic.

During the agreement ceremony attended by the two heads of state, a total of five Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) were signed. Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power and Doosan Enerbility signed an MOU with Doosan ?koda Power for the supply of steam turbines for the Czech nuclear power plant. Doosan ?koda Power, a subsidiary of Doosan Enerbility, is a turbine specialist manufacturer with over 150 years of history, producing steam turbines used in nuclear power plants. Once the final contract for the Dukovany Nuclear Power Plant in the Czech Republic is signed, Doosan ?koda Power is expected to supply the steam turbines.

Doosan Enerbility acquired ?koda Power in 2009 for approximately 800 billion KRW. To date, Doosan ?koda Power has supplied over 540 steam turbines with a total capacity of 50GW. It has supplied a total of 26 nuclear power plant steam turbines to three countries including the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Finland.

Park Ji-won, chairman of Doosan Enerbility, said, "Thanks to the full support and interest of the president and the government, we were able to overcome tough competition in the Czech nuclear power plant bidding and achieve such an excellent result." He added, "We will make every effort until the final fruition is achieved."

He continued, "With the resumption of construction of Shin Hanul Units 3 and 4 and growing expectations for additional exports, the conditions for the nuclear power business are improving. We will actively promote related investments and contribute to revitalizing the nuclear industry ecosystem and the regional economy."
