September 28 is Yeongdeungpo Residents' Day, commemorating the day when Yeongdeungpo-gu was first incorporated into Seoul on September 28, 1946. Since 1996, the district has designated September 28 as ‘Residents' Day’ and holds various commemorative events every year to pray for the development of Yeongdeungpo together with its residents.

To celebrate the 29th Residents' Day, the district has prepared a rich and diverse lineup of events, including ▲Residents' Day commemorative ceremony ▲a special lecture by renowned figure Dennis Hong ▲unique weekly events held at major Yeongdeungpo landmarks ▲and benefits for residents.

First, on September 26 at 3 p.m., the ‘Residents' Day Commemorative Ceremony’ will be held at Yeongdeungpo Art Hall. At the ceremony, the district will present the Yeongdeungpo Residents' Award to 16 proud residents and one organization selected in nine categories, including the Distinguished Parent Award, Filial Piety Award, Volunteer Award, Sports Award, and Culture and Arts Award. The ‘Yeongdeungpo Residents' Award’ is the district’s highest honor, awarded to residents who have contributed to community harmony and district development through dedication and service, illuminating Yeongdeungpo as a city of hope, happiness, and future.

Following this, from September 21 to 29, the district will host unique weekly events that people of all ages can enjoy together. These include ▲Garden Talk and Green Cinema Cultural Festival held at Mullae-dong Flower Garden (September 21 and 28) ▲Visiting Classical Music Concert (September 23) ▲Senior Health and Culture Class (September 25) ▲Anyangcheon Healing Walking Contest and Family eSports Experience (September 29).

Additionally, abundant benefits exclusively for residents are prepared. Choi Ho-kwon, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo-gu, said, “It is the residents who have developed Yeongdeungpo until now. I sincerely thank the residents who have given us the opportunity to envision Yeongdeungpo’s future together.” He added, “We will continue to think deeply about what residents want, act rather than just speak, and do our best to build a young city Yeongdeungpo together with the residents.”
