Gwangjin-gu (District Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) is operating the ‘Youth Lunchbox’ project, which provides meal kits and ready-to-eat meals every month to unemployed young single-person households.

The ‘Youth Lunchbox’ consists of one meal kit and 30 ready-to-eat meals. Each individual will receive meals worth approximately 100,000 KRW, provided four times from September to December. The menu includes seasonal foods, cup rice, porridge, and soups that are easy to prepare.

The district initiated this project to stabilize the lives of job-seeking young people living alone without a fixed income. It reflects the situation of young people who must reduce food expenses within limited living costs amid high inflation. The project also aims to support nutritious meals for young single-person households who find it difficult to have proper meals.

This month, in celebration of Chuseok, handmade galbi (marinated short ribs) and fruits have been prepared. All meal kits are produced by local food manufacturers referencing nutritional information. They plan to provide healthy low-sodium, low-sugar, and high-protein diets.

The target beneficiaries are unemployed young single-person households residing in Gwangjin-gu. They plan to recruit 200 people on a first-come, first-served basis until the 25th of this month. Applications should be sent via email with a resident registration certificate and health insurance qualification certificate issued within the last month attached.

After the application deadline, meal kits can be picked up at the Seoul Youth Center Gwangjin (245 Neungdong-ro), and ready-to-eat meals can be delivered to the home. However, proxy receipt, transfer to others, or resale is prohibited. For more details, contact the Job and Youth Division of Gwangjin-gu Office.

Kim Kyung-ho, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, said, “We have sought new measures to help unemployed young people with weak economic foundations achieve healthy independence. We will always listen carefully to the voices of young people and strive to be a strong support until they enter their desired workplace and realize their dreams.”
