Gijang-eup, Gijang-gun Launches 'Health Check Check' Program to Support Health Screenings for Vulnerable Seniors

Proactive Disease Prevention and Health Management

Gijang-eup Administrative Welfare Center in Gijang-gun (headed by Lee Sangshik) announced on the 19th that it recently launched the 'Health Chek Chek' project to provide health checkups for the elderly in vulnerable groups as part of its 2024 village welfare program.

This project was selected and implemented as a village welfare initiative based on a resident needs survey conducted by the Village Welfare Discovery Team (headed by Kwon Myoyeon), which is composed of local residents, aiming for proactive disease prevention and health management for the elderly in vulnerable groups in the community.

The project provided high-quality comprehensive health checkups, including ultrasound and MRI, for five households identified as health-vulnerable among welfare crisis households, in collaboration with Gijang Hospital, a local partner institution with which an MOU has been signed.

Additionally, if any diseases are detected in the checkup results, the center plans to offer further integrated public-private services such as emergency medical expense support and case management for the recipients.

Lee Sangshik, head of Gijang-eup, stated, "As our society ages, the community's interest and support for elderly health management have become even more essential," and promised, "We will continue to promote various support programs for health-vulnerable groups in the area to build a healthier community."
