The 'Hwaseong Bandabi Sports Center' is a project promoted to enable people with and without disabilities to use the facility together without discrimination and to promote balanced sports development within the region. With a budget of 1.6 billion KRW, construction began last year and is currently in the final stages, aiming for completion next month.
The center spans from one basement floor to two above-ground floors, with a total floor area of 2,996㎡. After completion, the city plans to open the center next year following a preparation period. The center includes ▲ an aquatic exercise room (25m, 4 lanes) with wheelchair access ▲ a multipurpose gymnasium for Paralympic sports such as boccia and goalball ▲ a fitness room ▲ and family rooms equipped with showers and changing rooms. The multipurpose gymnasium will have 3 badminton courts, 2 boccia courts, 1 basketball court, and 1 volleyball court.
In particular, the center is designed to enhance accessibility for people with disabilities, allowing them to use the sports facilities safely and comfortably.
Mayor Jeong said, "The center will guarantee opportunities for people with disabilities to participate in sports activities and will become a community-oriented sports facility that anyone can conveniently use." He added, "We will continue to expand cultural infrastructure befitting Hwaseong City's status as a key city in the southern Gyeonggi region."
