Pregnant Women, Seniors Aged 65 and Older
Cheongsong-gun, Gyeongsangbuk-do will begin offering free influenza (flu) vaccinations starting September 20.
This vaccination program is supported by the national government, and eligible recipients include seniors aged 65 and older, children aged 6 months to 13 years, and pregnant women (throughout the entire pregnancy).
The vaccination schedule will proceed sequentially, starting with children aged 6 months to 13 years, followed by pregnant women and seniors aged 65 and older.
▲ From September 20, children requiring two doses (first-time vaccine recipients aged 6 months to under 9 years) ▲ From October 2, children requiring a single dose (aged 9 to 13 years or children aged 6 months to under 9 years with prior vaccination history) and pregnant women ▲ For seniors aged 65 and older, vaccinations will be administered from October 14 to 30 during designated intensive periods in each town and township.
After the intensive period, flu vaccinations will be available at designated medical institutions within the area as well as at the Public Health Medical Center and health branches (Bunam-myeon, Hyeondong-myeon, Hyeonseo-myeon, Andeok-myeon, Jinbo-myeon). The list of designated medical institutions can be found on the Cheongsong-gun official website.
The flu season typically lasts from November to April of the following year. The flu virus spreads through droplets and can cause high fever, sore throat, headache, and muscle pain. Children, pregnant women, and the elderly are considered high-risk groups, and health authorities recommend vaccination between October and December for prevention.
County Governor Yoon Kyunghee stated, "We hope that high-risk individuals can reduce complications from illness and enjoy a healthy winter through flu vaccination."
