Korea: "Must Resolve Quickly for Health and Life"

On the 19th, Han Dong-hoon, leader of the People Power Party, urged once again for the participation in the ruling and opposition parties, medical community, and government consultative body to resolve the medical crisis, saying, "The weather is getting colder, and the golden time is passing."

At the Supreme Council meeting held at the National Assembly that morning, Representative Han said, "Let us all?ruling and opposition parties, medical community, and government?join forces to solve this problem. I once again ask that we think only of the health of the people."

Earlier, Representative Han had emphasized that the consultative body should be formed before the Chuseok holiday and had continued meetings with representatives of medical organizations and medical professionals. Regarding this, he said, "When we talk, the gap narrows, and we can clearly understand what issues each side considers important. Although distrust remains significant, all medical professionals share the sentiment that this issue must be resolved promptly for health and life."

He added, "Ultimately, I will wait for participation in the ruling and opposition parties, medical community, and government consultative body while sufficiently persuading them," appealing, "It is difficult to start solving this problem without the current consultative body of ruling and opposition parties, medical community, and government."

Representative Chu also stated, "During the holiday period, some emergency patients in the provinces were reported by the media to have been transferred repeatedly between emergency hospitals," adding, "This shortage of essential medical services in the provinces reconfirms that medical reform to revive essential and regional medical care is an urgent task that can no longer be postponed."

He continued, "Let us promptly participate together in the ruling and opposition parties, medical community, and government consultative body, put all issues including the medical community’s proposals on the table, and discuss them frankly to find answers," requesting, "The People Power Party will engage in dialogue sincerely with a flexible and open mind, and I say this once again."
