Seodaemun-gu, Seoul (Mayor Lee Seong-heon) announced on the 19th that it has been selected in the Ministry of Health and Welfare's '2024 Excellent Cases of Daily Care Services Contest' and will receive a ministerial commendation.

Daily care services refer to the integrated provision of care and household support, meal and nutrition management, hospital accompaniment, psychological support, caregiving education, and independent living services to middle-aged and young adults.

The Ministry of Health and Welfare held the contest to select excellent cases that improved residents' lives through daily care services and to share them with cities, provinces, and districts nationwide. Seodaemun-gu, which was the only autonomous district in Seoul selected as a daily care service project area in July last year and has been leading the project, was recognized in this contest for "discovering service users through various human resources" and "promotional activities using local media."

In particular, the operation of a "dedicated discovery system for daily care service recipients" utilizing the welfare human safety net was evaluated as an outstanding example of cooperation between public institutions and local residents.

In practice, the district operated ▲ the "Neighbor Care Team" involving community leaders, ▲ "Honorary Social Welfare Officers" and "Good Neighbors," ▲ the "Our Neighborhood Care Group" caring for socially isolated households, and ▲ the "Seodaemun Welfare Registered Mail Project," where postal workers assess recipients' housing and living conditions through registered mail services.

Additionally, ▲ the operation of an in-house discovery system for welfare blind spots using information technology (IT) such as the Happiness 1004 Call Center, Angel Talk, and Angel Chatbot, ▲ requests for cooperation in discovering users targeting over 20 medical institutions and more than 40 elementary, middle, and high schools in the district, and ▲ continuous promotion using social networking services (SNS) and YouTube were recognized as Seodaemun-gu's unique project know-how.

Mayor Lee Seong-heon said, "It is meaningful that our efforts have been well evaluated since being selected as a daily care service project area last year," and added, "We will do our best to revitalize the daily care service project to build a more solid care safety net."
