US 'Newsweek' Announces

Keimyung University Dongsan Medical Center (Director: Cho Chiheum) announced on the 19th that it has been selected for the third consecutive year in the pediatrics category of the "World’s Best Specialized Hospitals 2025," published by the American news magazine Newsweek and the global market research firm Statista.

Keimyung University Dongsan Medical Center rose slightly in the rankings, moving from 136th last year to 133rd this year, maintaining its position as number one in the Daegu-Gyeongbuk region. In addition, last June, it was also selected in the pediatrics category of the "2024 Asia-Pacific Best Specialized Hospitals," further proving the excellence of its pediatric care compared to leading hospitals worldwide.

Cho Chiheum, Director of Keimyung University Dongsan Medical Center, said, "I am very pleased that we have been selected for the third consecutive year in the pediatrics category of the world’s best specialized hospitals. We will continue to make every effort to ensure the rapid recovery of pediatric and adolescent patients. I also ask for much interest and support from the public for the Public Children’s Rehabilitation Medical Center, which is scheduled to officially open at Daegu Dongsan Hospital in February next year."

Meanwhile, Keimyung University Dongsan Hospital (Dalseo-gu, Daegu) has provided hope for healing to high-risk mothers and fetuses in the region by recording the highest number of high-risk deliveries nationwide for four consecutive years through its High-Risk Maternal and Neonatal Integrated Care Center. The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit provides specialized treatment for premature infants and newborns with congenital anomalies, while pediatric rehabilitation and developmental specialists are dedicated to improving outcomes through long-term follow-up.

The Public Children’s Rehabilitation Medical Center for the Gyeongbuk region (Daegu) is being established by remodeling the first and second floors of the annex building at Keimyung University Daegu Dongsan Hospital (Jung-gu, Daegu) with a project budget of 7.2 billion KRW (3.6 billion KRW from the national government and 3.6 billion KRW from local government). The center will have a total floor area of 1,100 pyeong, with a 20-bed day ward and the capacity to accommodate more than 50 outpatients.

In addition, a medical environment will be created to ensure that children with disabilities and high-risk children can conveniently access services. The center will introduce 81 types of medical equipment, including robotic gait trainers, and establish facilities for physical, occupational, and speech therapy. It will also provide customized rehabilitation treatment services tailored to the needs of children with disabilities and support various programs to help them reintegrate into society. The goal is to complete construction by the end of December this year, conduct a trial operation in January next year, and officially open in February.
