Outrage Erupts as Cases of Return Policy Abuse Surface

During the Chuseok holiday, a case of a consumer who dressed their child in hanbok and immediately returned it has sparked public outrage.

"They bought a child's hanbok for Chuseok, dressed them for half a day, and then returned it" Photo unrelated to the article content showing Hanbok

On the 17th, a netizen identified as A, who claimed to have worked a day as a part-time worker at the e-commerce platform 'Coupang,' shared this story on their X (formerly Twitter) account. A stated, "People are really scoundrels. Since Coupang delivers even during holidays, they order the day before, dress their children in hanbok on Chuseok day for just one day, then repackage it and request a return in the afternoon."

A said they discovered this while working a Coupang delivery part-time job on the 1st. When they went to collect the returned items, they found the packaging torn open. Inside the packaging was a children's hanbok set.

A posted, "Let's not live disgracefully. We shouldn't live so unscrupulously," along with related photos. The photos showed three return items placed in front of a door, with signs that the packaging had been opened and resealed with tape.

Netizens who read the story responded critically, saying things like, "They have no sense of shame," "If that's the case, just rent hanbok instead," "What else is this if not a beggar mentality," "An act without conscience," and "These kinds of actions eventually get registered on Coupang's blacklist, so I don't understand it."

One netizen warned, "After last year's Chuseok holiday return process started, most of the clothing items were baby hanbok," adding, "Coupang manages consumers who frequently return items, and suspicious individuals appear on the monitor."
