"Help me" faint voice... Police officer saves neighbor while eating Jjajangmyeon

Stayed Home on Holiday but Responded to Neighbor's Rescue Request
"Maybe I Listened More Carefully Due to My Job"

A story has been shared about a police officer who saved a neighbor experiencing a panic attack while at home on a holiday.

On the 18th, News1 reported that Sergeant Jo Gye-hyeon, a police officer belonging to the Yongjung Police Substation of the Yongsan Police Station in Seoul, rescued a man in a residential area in Hwagok-dong, Gangseo-gu, Seoul, at 1 p.m. on the 12th.

At the time, Sergeant Jo was at home eating Jjajangmyeon on his day off when he heard a faint voice of a man asking for help. At first, Sergeant Jo thought he had misheard, but when he heard groans several more times at intervals of 1 to 2 minutes, he sensed a dangerous situation. He immediately opened the window and shouted, “Is anyone there? Where are you?” Then, a faint voice replied, “Here, 4th floor of ○○○.” The voice sounded exhausted and gradually became quieter.

Sergeant Jo went outside and ran toward the direction of the sound. He arrived in front of a villa, went up to the 4th floor, and knocked on the door. The house was about 90 meters away from Sergeant Jo’s home. He reported the situation to the police and fire department. Until the rescue team arrived, he reassured the man by saying, “I will come in and check soon, so please wait.” He also contacted the man’s parents to inform them of the situation.

The man was trapped because the bathroom door in his house was old and locked from the outside. He was in a panic state, thinking he might not be able to get out of the bathroom. Shortly after, firefighters arrived and forcibly opened the door, rescuing the 26-year-old man who was trapped inside the bathroom.

Sergeant Jo recounted the tense situation, saying, “The man’s face was pale white and he looked very pale.” He added, “As a police officer, I have often experienced similar situations, so I think I listened more carefully. I just happened to hear it first, but anyone else could have done the same.”
