Fire Agency and Wonderman Collaborate for Chuseok Production
In celebration of Chuseok, a video produced by the National Fire Agency for the bereaved families and colleagues of fallen firefighters has been posted on the YouTube channel 'Wonderman,' gaining widespread attention.
According to the National Fire Agency on the 17th, the day before, the YouTube channel 'Wonderman' uploaded a video titled "Met My Fallen Husband in a Photo Taken by Chance," which was collaboratively produced by the National Fire Agency and the 'Wonderman' channel. This planned video focuses on the families and colleagues of fallen firefighters and was created as a gift for those who have lost loved ones during the holiday season.
In the video, families and colleagues of fallen firefighters visited local fire stations and safety centers, where they participated in a photo event held by the 'Life Four Cuts' vehicle. After taking pictures with firefighting characters and while waiting for the photos to be printed, they shared memories of their departed family members and colleagues.
Lee Yeon-sook, wife of the late firefighter Lee Young-wook who died in 2017 during firefighting activities at Seokranjeong in Gangneung City, said, "I miss my husband every day," adding, "Since fatal accidents continue to happen, fallen firefighters tend to be forgotten except by their families. I would be truly grateful if people just remember that there were such firefighters."
Shin Doo-seop, father of the late firefighter Shin Young-ryong who died in a helicopter accident during the 2014 Sewol ferry disaster, said, "I try not to think that my son is gone but rather that he is living well abroad."
Shortly after, the photos they received showed their departed family members and colleagues instead of the firefighting characters. Lee tearfully expressed, "I am so thankful for this precious gift." Shin repeatedly caressed the photo, saying, "I am so glad. This is my precious son," and warmly added, "Thank you for growing up well. Please be well in heaven."
Colleagues Son Young-ho and Park Min-su of the late firefighter Lee Ho-hyun, who died at the young age of 27 during firefighting activities at Seokranjeong, smiled and said, "Every time I see the photo, I think of Ho-hyun a lot."
A National Fire Agency official stated, "This project was planned to remind people of the meaning of family during the Chuseok holiday and to raise social awareness about fallen firefighters," adding, "We hope that this kind content will contribute to creating a warm society."
