Handonghun "Everyone loses like this... The consultative body must be launched unconditionally"

'Will the medical community's demands be conveyed to the Presidential Office?' Korea says "We will do what needs to be done"

Han Dong-hoon, leader of the People Power Party, reiterated on the 16th his call for the medical community to participate, stating, "We will not set any preconditions for the launch of the ruling-opposition parliamentary consultative body."

After visiting and encouraging the Jongno Fire Station in Seoul that day, Han told reporters regarding the ongoing conflict in medical affairs, "If this continues as it is, no one will win, and everyone will lose."

Han said, "During the holiday period, I have been meeting with key figures in the medical community, and generally, their thoughts are the same. They are concerned about the health and lives of the people and believe a good system must be established," adding, "I am persuading them (to resolve the issue), and many empathize with this."

Regarding the criticism that the Korean Intern Resident Association, the core party in this conflict, is negative about participating in the consultative body, he explained, "If a specific organization is set as a prerequisite for participation from the beginning, the consultative body cannot even start." He added, "That is why I am individually and one-on-one meeting with medical organizations to continue persuading them."

When asked whether he would submit the medical community's demands to the Presidential Office, Han replied, "As someone working to launch the consultative body, I will do what needs to be done."

When questioned about calls for the dismissal of Jang Sang-yoon, Senior Secretary for Social Affairs at the Presidential Office, and the Minister and Vice Minister of Health and Welfare, he said, "As the party leader, I have publicly pointed out remarks and actions that could cause misunderstandings," adding, "Instead of debating who did well or poorly, or who is right, we should focus on how to resolve the issue." He further emphasized, "Mentioning any specific measures as conditions for the launch of the consultative body would rather hinder its prompt establishment."

On the same day, Han visited the Jongno Fire Station 119 Safety Center and the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency in succession to encourage public officials in celebration of the Chuseok holiday. Even during his visit to the 119 Safety Center, he mentioned the medical disruption situation, saying, "I heard that the paramedics are working very hard," and added, "We will do our best to resolve this in a good direction. I am sorry. Until then, please do your utmost to ensure that the public does not get sick or injured."
