Vance "Talked with Trump... Surprisingly, He Looks in Good Spirits"

"Conversation Before News Reports Are Released to the Public"

Donald Trump, the former U.S. president and Republican presidential candidate, is reported to be in a safe condition following a second assassination attempt. J.D. Vance, a U.S. senator and Trump’s running mate, confirmed his condition after speaking with him.

On the 15th (local time), Senator Vance posted on his official X account, "I am glad to confirm that former President Trump is safe," adding, "I spoke with him before the news reports about the assassination attempt were made public."

He continued, "Surprisingly, he was in good spirits," but also emphasized, "We still do not know many details about this incident." He added, "Tonight, I will say a prayer of thanks and hold my children a little tighter."

Earlier that day, while Trump was playing golf at his own golf course in Palm Beach, Florida, an assassination attempt occurred. A Secret Service (SS) agent assigned to protect Trump spotted a suspect aiming an AK-series rifle at him and fired shots. The suspect dropped the firearm and fled the scene in a sport utility vehicle (SUV) but was later arrested by the police.

Immediately after the incident, Trump and his campaign confirmed that he was unharmed. In an email to his supporters, Trump reiterated, "I will never give up," and said, "There were gunshots around me, but I want to share this message before rumors get out of control. I am safe and healthy."

The U.S. daily newspaper The New York Times (NYT) reported, citing law enforcement officials, that the suspect in this incident is Ryan Wesley Luss, a 58-year-old man from Hawaii.
