"Toilet Paper Found in Galbitang" Customer Who Didn't Pay
CCTV Shows... It Was the Tissue Used to Wipe Their Mouth
Owner Says "No Settlement Will Be Made"
The owner was furious after a customer who put tissue paper in their food and claimed "a foreign object came out" refused to pay.
JTBC's 'Sageon Banjang' reported on the 14th the story of owner A, who received a complaint from a customer saying "there was tissue paper in the food." According to the report, A, who runs a galbitang specialty restaurant in Namyangju, Gyeonggi Province, recently received a complaint from a customer about a foreign object in the food. The customer claimed that a piece of tissue paper came out of the galbitang they were eating.
However, after reviewing the closed-circuit television (CCTV), it was confirmed that the customer had wiped their mouth with tissue paper during the meal and dropped it into the food. It was unclear whether this act was accidental or intentional. The customer continued to eat the food while talking with their companions even after the tissue paper fell into the galbitang. Upon discovering the tissue, the customer picked it out with chopsticks and called a staff member to complain. The staff, unaware of the situation, immediately removed the galbitang from the table, and the group left the restaurant without paying for the food.
After realizing that the customer had put the tissue paper in the food themselves, A reported the incident to the police. Since the customer had driven to the restaurant, the vehicle's license plate was also identified. Although the tissue paper was found in only one of the three bowls of galbitang ordered by the group, they refused to pay for all three bowls. A told 'Sageon Banjang,' "I don't know if it was a mistake or intentional," and added, "I will never settle."
Netizens who heard the story responded with comments such as "I suspect this is a habitual offender," "It seems intentional," "I don't understand why they didn't pay for the other galbitang the companions ate," and "If left unchecked, they will do the same at other restaurants."
