"Chuseok Arrives Amid Unprecedented Heatwave Continuing"
Former President Moon Jae-in conveyed Chuseok greetings, saying, "We are facing harsh living conditions along with a medical crisis," and emphasized that "health is the most important." On the 14th, Moon posted Chuseok greetings on Facebook in the names of himself and First Lady Kim Jung-sook.
He wrote, "We are welcoming Chuseok amid unprecedented heatwaves," adding, "Endless heatwaves combined with harsh living conditions and a medical crisis make these days difficult and exhausting." He continued, "I hope everyone stays strong and has a peaceful and abundant Chuseok holiday," and added, "Hope is always by our side. The heatwave will not stop autumn, and the ripening fields will be filled with golden abundance." Former President Moon particularly stressed health, saying, "Above all, health is the best. I pray that everyone stays healthy and safe."
Meanwhile, as the prosecution's investigation into former President Moon continues, the Democratic Party of Korea launched the Prosecution Dictatorship Countermeasures Committee on the 13th, a body to oversee the party's response to the prosecution's investigations. The committee aims to strongly counter the prosecution's investigations into former President Moon Jae-in and Democratic Party leader Lee Jae-myung. Kim Young-jin, a member who served as chairman of the Former Regime Political Oppression Countermeasures Committee, criticized, "Political oppression and ruthless investigations akin to harassment are being carried out against former President Moon, Lee, and their families." He added, "With the determination that once fought against military governments to achieve democratization, we will fight against the prosecution dictatorship of the Yoon Seok-yeol administration."
The Criminal Division 3 of Jeonju District Prosecutors' Office (Chief Prosecutor Han Yeon-gyu) is investigating allegations of preferential hiring at an airline involving Seo, the former son-in-law of former President Moon. On the 30th of last month, the prosecution conducted a search and seizure at the residence of Dahye, Moon's daughter, and named former President Moon as a suspect. Legal circles are speculating that the prosecution may summon former President Moon after the Chuseok holiday. If the prosecution begins a full-scale investigation linking Dahye and former President Moon, insiders predict that it will become a highly sensitive political situation.
