Pukyong National University Records Highest Ever Admission Competition Rate of 8.57 to 1 for 2025 Early Admission

2,914 Recruits, 24,968 Applicants... In-Quota Competition Rate 9.10 to 1

The 2025 early admission application competition rate at Pukyong National University (President: Jang Youngsoo) has reached a record high of 8.57 to 1.

The Admissions Office at Pukyong National University (Director: Gong Seungpyo) announced on the 13th that, as of the deadline for the 2025 early admission application, 24,968 applicants applied for 2,914 available spots, resulting in an overall competition rate of 8.57 to 1.

The competition rate for the regular quota was 9.10 to 1 (2,585 spots/23,512 applicants).

In particular, among the newly established major-free recruitment units this year, the School of Liberal Studies received 1,980 applications for 200 spots in the Academic Excellence Track, with the number of applicants for a single track and unit reaching nearly 2,000, indicating high interest in the major-free recruitment.

Last year, the overall early admission competition rate at Pukyong National University was 7.03 to 1 (2,921 spots/20,524 applicants), and 7.37 to 1 (2,598 spots/19,155 applicants) for the regular quota.

By admission track within the regular quota: Academic Excellence Track 7.68 to 1 (1,364/10,478), General Track 8.90 to 1 (216/1,923), Regional Innovation Talent Track 8.63 to 1 (449/3,873), Practical Talent Track 23.95 to 1 (19/455), School Life Excellence Track 14.44 to 1 (392/5,661), Socially Disadvantaged I Track 6.69 to 1 (103/689), Socially Disadvantaged II Track 18.95 to 1 (19/360), Socially Disadvantaged III Track 16 to 1 (1/16), and Lifelong Learner Track 2.59 to 1 (22/57).

For non-regular quota admissions: Rural Talent Track 6.96 to 1 (93/647), Future Talent Track 4.15 to 1 (55/228), Specialized High School Talent Track 11.97 to 1 (33/395), and Employed Graduates of Specialized High Schools Track 0.99 to 1 (140/138). The Special Education Track, newly established this year to provide opportunities for vulnerable groups such as people with disabilities and national merit recipients, recorded 6 to 1 (8/48).

Departments with the highest competition rates included: Department of Biotechnology in the Academic Excellence Track at 19.57 to 1 (7/137), Department of Economics in the General Track at 14.40 to 1 (5/72), Department of Economics in the Regional Innovation Talent Track at 16.40 to 1 (10/164), and School of International and Area Studies in the School Life Excellence Track at 39.80 to 1 (5/199).
