Safe Driving Campaign for Holiday Travelers in Partnership with Korea Transportation Safety Authority
Korea National Oil Corporation (President Kim Dongseob) has launched an active promotional campaign for ‘OPINET,’ a fuel price information service designed to be user-friendly for the public, in celebration of the Chuseok holiday.
Shinyounghwa, Head of Management Support Division at Korea National Oil Corporation (eighth from the left), conducted a joint Opinet promotion and traffic safety campaign for the public at Unyang Highway Rest Area in cooperation with the Korea Transportation Safety Authority.
On the 13th, the corporation held a public promotional event at the Eonyang Rest Area on the Gyeongbu Expressway and the Ulsan Intercity Bus Terminal, providing guidance on how to find the lowest-priced gas stations using OPINET and ways to save on fuel costs.
OPINET is a gas station price information service operated by the corporation, with approximately 110 million annual users and a daily average of 340,000 users as of 2023, making it a widely used public online service.
This time, OPINET’s services for locating the lowest-priced gas stations nearby, along expressways, and along specific routes are being promoted to help reduce fuel expenses for long-distance drivers during the holiday season. The campaign also provides useful information such as “Chuseok Holiday: Smart Tips for Saving on Fuel” and “Long-Distance Safe Driving Guidelines.”
This event was held in cooperation with employees of the Korea Transportation Safety Authority, offering on-site services such as instructions on how to use OPINET and assistance with app installation via QR codes for travelers returning to their hometowns by car. The campaign also promoted safe driving to prevent traffic accidents during the holiday travel period.
OPINET, operated by the corporation, contributes to the activation of fuel price information use in research and start-up sectors by providing real-time fuel price information APIs free of charge to small and medium-sized enterprises and startups, thereby promoting public data openness.
An API (Application Programming Interface) is a data linkage program that allows the development of service content by connecting to OPINET’s fuel price information.
The corporation plans to continue faithfully fulfilling its role as a provider of public life information and to enhance public convenience by improving market transparency and stabilizing prices through the operation of OPINET and other fuel price information systems.
