Four out of ten office workers do not receive so-called 'tteok money' such as Chuseok bonuses, while members of the National Assembly are reported to receive about 4.24 million KRW.

On the 12th, the employment portal site Incruit announced the results of a survey on 'Chuseok holiday plans and bonuses' conducted on 1,055 office workers. According to the survey, 40.6% of respondents answered that they do not receive a Chuseok bonus. This was followed by 35.5% who said they do receive it and 23.9% who were unsure.

Office workers who responded that they receive bonuses were confirmed to be paid an average of 838,000 KRW. By company size, the average amounts were as follows: large companies (1.46 million KRW), public institutions and public enterprises (1.206 million KRW), mid-sized companies (743,000 KRW), and small businesses (526,000 KRW).

Meanwhile, according to the '2024 National Assembly Members' Allowance Payment Standards' disclosed by the National Assembly Secretariat, the 'holiday leave allowance' among various allowances paid to members of the National Assembly is 8,495,880 KRW for this year. This amount is divided and paid twice, during Seol and Chuseok, so members will receive about half, approximately 4,247,940 KRW, this Chuseok. This is based on the general civil servant allowance regulation that pays 60% of the monthly salary as holiday leave allowance. According to the National Assembly Secretariat's announcement, the annual pre-tax salary of a National Assembly member this year is about 157 million KRW.
