Paju-si to Provide Up to 3 Million Won Birth Celebration Allowance Starting Next Year

Starting from babies born in 2024... Payment split into two installments

Paju-si to Provide Up to 3 Million Won Birth Celebration Allowance Starting Next Year Paju City's promotional material for 'Birth Celebration Allowance Increased Up to 2 Million Won'.

Gyeonggi Paju City (Mayor Kim Kyung-il) announced on the 13th that it will increase the birth congratulatory money to a maximum of 3 million KRW (based on the third child) to reduce the economic burden on families with newborns.

Following the passage of the partial amendment to the "Paju City Birth Celebration and Multi-Child Family Support Ordinance" by the city council on the 4th, Paju City decided to raise the birth congratulatory money for families with newborns starting next year.

The support amount will be increased from 100,000 KRW for the first child, 300,000 KRW for the second child, and 1,000,000 KRW for the third child or more to 1,000,000 KRW for the first child, 2,000,000 KRW for the second child, and 3,000,000 KRW for the third child or more starting next year. The support applies to children born from 2024 onward.

The support method will remain as is, considering government subsidies provided early in the newborn's life. At the time of birth registration, 100,000 KRW for the first child, 300,000 KRW for the second child, and 1,000,000 KRW for the third child or more will be paid as the first installment. One year after the payment date, an additional 900,000 KRW for the first child, 1,700,000 KRW for the second child, and 2,000,000 KRW for the third child or more will be paid.

By applying only once within one year from the birth registration date, the payment will be automatically split. For children born in 2024 who have already applied for the birth congratulatory money, the second installment will be paid next year without an additional application. Applications can be made at the local administrative welfare center or through Government24.

The support target is a guardian residing in Paju City with resident registration at the time of application from the birth registration date. The eligible child must be registered as a member of the same household in the resident registration, and continuous resident registration and residence in the city must be maintained from the birth registration date until the split payment date.

Mayor Kim Kyung-il of Paju City said, “We hope that the birth congratulatory money, given to celebrate the precious birth of a child, will help families raising children, and we will strive to make the city a happy place for the whole family with their children.”
