Three Cases Referred to Prosecution, Fines Imposed in 19 Cases
Ahead of Chuseok, several businesses in Chungnam have been caught selling holiday goods with falsified country-of-origin labels.
The Chungnam Provincial Special Judicial Police Team announced on the 13th that they had conducted inspections on 989 locations, including holiday goods manufacturers and large supermarkets, from the 4th to the 30th of last month, uncovering 22 violations.
The main violations included failure to conduct self-quality inspections, false labeling of meat products, and failure to indicate the country of origin for agricultural products.
The province will refer three cases involving failure to conduct self-quality inspections and violations of distribution standards to the prosecution, while the remaining 19 cases will be subject to fines.
Cho Seongkwon, the Provincial Safety Planning Officer, said, "Violations related to holiday goods continue to be uncovered," and added, "We will continue inspections to ensure that residents can spend the holidays safely and healthily."
