Chungnam Province announced on the 13th that it will provide disaster relief funds totaling 500 million won to 15 aquaculture farms in the Cheonsuman area that suffered damage due to high water temperatures.

This year, the highest water temperature recorded in Cheonsuman was 34.4℃, breaking the all-time record and resulting in a series of damages.

Accordingly, the province, together with the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, conducted a joint investigation and selected 15 sites as the first round of recovery recipients. The first round of recovery support will be distributed as follows: 5 farms in Boryeong, 2 in Seosan, and 8 in Taean. Taean County will receive 400 million won, Boryeong City 97 million won, and Seosan City 4 million won.

In addition, the province is discussing with the National Federation of Fisheries Cooperatives a plan to provide low-interest loans (1.5%) totaling 780 million won, which corresponds to 30% of the total damage amount.

After the first round of recovery support, the province will investigate the remaining affected farms and establish a plan for a second round of recovery support.

A provincial official said, "Last month, we urgently provided 100 million won in reserve funds to cover the cost of disposing of dead fish and supplying liquid oxygen in response to the high water temperature damage," adding, "We will promptly complete the first round of recovery and establish a second recovery plan so that fishermen can recover as soon as possible."
