Full Inspection of 176 Electric Vehicle Charging Stations Scheduled for September
‘Gureungsan Jarakkil Child Forest Experience Center’ to Be Established by December

Guri-si Takes Initiative to Create a Safe and Clean Urban Environment Jomyeong-ah Jo, Director of the Environmental Office of Guri City, is holding a regular press briefing on the 12th at the Comprehensive Situation Room on the 3rd floor of the City Hall main building.

On the 12th, Guri City in Gyeonggi Province held its regular press briefing for the second week of September at the city hall's comprehensive situation room, announcing key plans and policies for urban environment development projects.

On this day, Jo Myeong-a, Director of the Environmental Business Office, presented on △a full inspection and safety management measures for electric vehicle charging facilities △guidance on household waste collection during the Chuseok holiday period △the creation of a children's forest experience center along the Galmae Gureungsan footpath.

First, Guri City plans to conduct a full inspection this month of 1,391 electric vehicle charging stations across 176 locations in the city and establish safety measures.

Recently, a series of electric vehicle fire accidents have increased citizens' concerns about EV charging stations. Accordingly, this inspection aims to alleviate citizens' anxiety caused by electric vehicle fires and prevent property damage.

Prior to the full inspection, the city conducted a joint safety management inspection of underground charging facilities and fire safety equipment at the end of last month with the Guri Fire Station and the Korea Electrical Safety Corporation.

Additionally, based on the government's comprehensive measures against electric vehicle fires, Guri City announced plans to prepare safety plans and support measures for all electric vehicle charging facilities in the city.

Jo Myeong-a, Director of Environmental Management, emphasized, “The full inspection of electric vehicle charging facilities is an important measure to protect citizens' safety,” adding, “We will continuously do our best to alleviate citizens' concerns and prevent safety accidents.”

This Chuseok holiday spans a total of five days including the weekend, which is longer than usual. Guri City also provided information on household waste collection during the Chuseok holiday period.

On the first and second days of the Chuseok holiday, the 14th and 15th respectively, waste collection will be conducted only along main roads as usual. The household waste collection day during the holiday is the 16th. Therefore, citizens can dispose of household waste from 8 PM to midnight on the 15th and 18th.

The city will operate a special situation team during the holiday period to minimize citizens' inconvenience caused by waste. Furthermore, the waste collection contractors, Guji Environment and Mirae Industry, will operate a mobile response team even on holidays to handle urgent complaints.

Moreover, except for Chuseok day itself, street cleaning will be continuously carried out by environmental sanitation workers during the four days of the holiday to create a clean and pleasant festive atmosphere.

At the briefing, Guri City also announced that the ‘Galmae Gureungsan Footpath Children's Forest Experience Center’ will be established by December.

The children's forest experience center project involves creating learning and play spaces utilizing the forest and terrain, allowing young children to freely and joyfully experience the forest while fostering creativity in nature.

This project, located along the Galmae Gureungsan footpath, will cover an area of 5,000㎡ and include outdoor experiential learning spaces, shelter facilities, and safety installations.

Starting in 2025, Guri City plans to operate children's forest education programs through specialized forest welfare businesses to support young children in freely and joyfully experiencing the forest with creativity. In the future, depending on accessibility and site conditions, the city will expand children's forests at key points in parks and forests.

Baek Gyeong-hyeon, Mayor of Guri City, stated, “A safe and clean environment is a fundamental requirement for happiness,” and added, “We will strive to create a clean and healthy urban environment through various project initiatives.”
