The Yeoncheon-gun Carbon Neutrality Support Center conducted climate crisis carbon neutrality capacity-building training for about 100 Yeoncheon-gun public officials on the 11th. The Carbon Neutrality Support Center in Yeoncheon-gun, Gyeonggi Province, announced on the 12th that it conducted a capacity-building training on climate crisis and carbon neutrality for about 100 Yeoncheon-gun public officials on the 11th at the large conference room on the 3rd floor of the county office.
This training was held to mark the 1st anniversary of the opening of the Yeoncheon-gun Carbon Neutrality Support Center and aimed to enhance the awareness of carbon neutrality among Yeoncheon-gun office employees who are striving to achieve carbon neutrality under difficult conditions, as well as to strengthen their basic capabilities.
On the day, Jeon Mi-ae, director of the Yeoncheon-gun Carbon Neutrality Support Center, introduced representative cases of carbon neutrality practices carried out by the center so far, increasing understanding of the Carbon Neutrality Support Center.
Following this, Hong Soo-yeol, director of the Resource Circulation Social Economy Research Institute and author of "That’s Not Trash," known as the "Trash Doctor," was invited to give a lecture titled "Trash Around Us Now (Trash, Circular Economy & Zero Waste)."
The main contents of the training program included basic capacity-building education through topics such as the great acceleration and the Anthropocene crisis, why trash is a problem, carbon neutrality and circular economy, and zero waste challenges.
Jeon Mi-ae, director of the Yeoncheon-gun Carbon Neutrality Support Center, stated, “Through this training, public officials should first recognize the necessity of carbon neutrality and respond actively,” adding, “Going forward, the Carbon Neutrality Support Center will strengthen cooperation with related organizations and groups and actively work to support Yeoncheon-gun’s carbon neutrality-related policies to promote locally led carbon neutrality implementation.”
