Korea Airports Corporation Jeju Airport announced on the 12th that it will operate a special traffic countermeasure team for the Chuseok holiday.

The corporation expects the number of passengers using Jeju Airport from the 13th, when the main homecoming traffic begins, to the last day of the holiday on the 18th to increase by 2.3% compared to last year, reaching 537,000 people.

The number of domestic passengers is expected to be 484,100, a 1.8% decrease compared to the same period last year, but the number of international passengers is expected to increase by 65.6% to 53,000.

The busiest day is expected to be the 18th, when homecoming travelers return, with 91,000 people using the airport.

Jeju Airport plans to operate identity verification gates and security checkpoints at full capacity during the peak passenger hours and deploy additional guidance and support personnel. Pre-special inspections of airport facilities and equipment have also been completed to ensure the safety of passengers and airport workers. Systems for abnormal operations such as delays, wind and flood damage, and emergency medical support have also been prepared.

As part of the government's Chuseok livelihood stabilization measures, Jeju Airport will open the domestic passenger parking lot free of charge from the 14th to the 18th during the Chuseok holiday.

The free parking time will also be extended from 10 minutes to 3 hours. For users exceeding 3 hours, they can apply for a post-exemption by providing proof of domestic flight boarding passes and receipts on the airport parking website within 30 days. However, international passengers are excluded from free use.

Since an increase in parking lot users is expected, Jeju Airport plans to secure about 800 additional temporary parking spaces in addition to the existing 2,200 regular parking spaces and deploy additional parking attendants.

Kim Bok-geun, Jeju Airport Director, said, "Since the airport may be crowded during the holiday, we recommend arriving at the airport with sufficient time to spare before departure."
