According to local media VN Express on the 12th (local time), Ha Long Bay, one of the representative tourist destinations in northern Vietnam and a UNESCO World Heritage site, was left in ruins after Yagi swept through on the 7th.

In the Bai Chay area of Ha Long Bay, where restaurants, hotels, markets, and bars are concentrated, more than 1,000 buildings suffered severe damage. The restaurant district lost metal roofs to strong winds, and broken signs and glass littered the area.

Nearly 400 tourist boats that took visitors on cruises around Ha Long Bay also saw dozens of vessels sink, and most of the remaining boats were heavily damaged.

Cat Ba Island, a famous tourist spot adjacent to Haiphong City near Ha Long Bay, also saw its famous night market’s metal frames and booths completely blown away by strong winds. The 'Dolphin Palace,' a well-known convention facility near Ha Long Bay, had much of its metal roof torn off like paper, leaving it looking unsightly.

In Sa Pa, a mountainous tourist area in Lao Cai Province, known as the 'Switzerland of Vietnam,' a landslide occurred on the 8th, resulting in six deaths.

Damage is also increasing in Thailand.

According to the Bangkok Post, since the 10th, nine people have died due to flooding in Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai provinces, and more than 34,000 households have been flooded or damaged.

Major areas of Chiang Rai City were flooded, leading to the closure of Chiang Rai International Airport. Five airlines operating at Chiang Rai Airport announced the suspension of all flights on the same day.

Authorities are deploying military units and others to rescue residents isolated by the floods.
