Kia Labor and Management Reject Tentative Collective Agreement... Renegotiation After Chuseok

The wage and collective bargaining agreement (CBA) between Kia labor and management has been postponed until after Chuseok.

According to the industry and the union on the 12th, the Kia union conducted a vote among its members on the tentative CBA agreement. The wage agreement was approved with 53.7% in favor and 45.9% against, but the collective agreement was rejected with 48.3% in favor and 51.2% against.


The wage agreement included a monthly base salary increase of 112,000 KRW (including step increases), a management performance bonus of 300% + 10 million KRW, a Kia 80th anniversary commemorative incentive of 100% + 2.8 million KRW, a special performance incentive for record-high achievements of 100% + 5 million KRW, and a 200,000 KRW traditional market gift certificate to revitalize the local economy.


The rejected collective agreement included provisions such as retirement age extension, expanded condolence leave, and broader hiring targets.


With the rejection of the agreement, Kia labor and management will proceed with renegotiations on the collective agreement. The renegotiations are expected to take place after the Chuseok holiday.
