The NCSoft labor union held its first rally since its launch last year, demanding job security for employees subject to the spin-off.
The NC union "Ujujeongbok" held a rally on the 12th in the lobby of the company’s first floor, opposing the management’s spin-off plan.
The union stated, "The company claimed financial difficulties and reorganized its AI (artificial intelligence) and finance businesses, spun off the daycare center, and shut down its subsidiary Entrive. Since then, many breadwinners have left the company through voluntary resignations, and the company called this selection and concentration," emphasizing their point.
They added, "Despite such sacrifices, it is still insufficient, and the QA (Quality Assurance) Center, Biz Solution Center, UGPC (User Growth Platform Center), and IT Infrastructure Office are being selectively spun off. At a recent private investor relations (IR) meeting, it was announced that voluntary resignations and cost reductions will continue," they said.
Furthermore, they stressed that NC management is shifting the blame for poor performance onto employees. They said, "The spin-off is solely the result of management’s failure. No matter how much they fail, executives and management who receive tens of millions of won in salaries and bonuses must never be allowed to shift the responsibility for failure onto employees," they emphasized.
Earlier last month, NC confirmed the company split through an extraordinary general meeting of shareholders. Two spin-off corporations, NCQA and NCIDS, are scheduled to launch on the 1st of next month. Approximately 360 employees are expected to transfer from the headquarters.
