Recently, SAMG Entertainment (CEO Kim Suhoon, hereafter SAMG), a leading K-animation company that scored back-to-back home runs with the ‘Catch! Teenieping’ series movie ‘Love’s Hatchuping,’ is now unveiling a new animation featuring a cat character.
SAMG’s new IP, ‘Wish Cat, the Cat That Grants Wishes,’ airing on SBS, is a 3D animation that tells the charming and varied stories of Anna, an ordinary and kind-hearted girl, who one day meets a magical cat named Ainyang that fell from the sky and becomes Ainyang’s partner.
Through this new IP, SAMG plans to clearly raise the target age group. In particular, the male lead ‘Leo,’ who is Anna’s classmate, appears, and the excitement points come from Anna liking Leo and the cute Ainyang’s quirky attempts to help Anna, sometimes portrayed humorously, aiming to captivate teenage girls and the MZ generation.
PD Lee Ji-eun of SAMG, who is producing and managing the new IP ‘Wish Cat,’ explained the story background: “Wish Cat centers on the first love and friendship experiences of Anna, a teenage girl in puberty, delicately handling the emotions of excitement and fluttering feelings typical of girls, making it a story that teenagers and the MZ generation can fully enjoy. In Season 1, about 20 Wish Cats with different abilities will appear to help the main character Anna fulfill her wishes.”
Meanwhile, ahead of the September premiere of the new IP ‘Wish Cat,’ SAMG pre-released about 25 self-produced MD products, including character plush dolls and figures, at the end of August.
A SAMG representative shared their expectations for the new IP’s success: “Since the Wish Cat MD products were unveiled at major large supermarkets at the end of August, word of mouth about the cat character’s cuteness has spread, resulting in significant sales of the initial production volume, and we have been flooded with collaboration inquiries.”
SAMG’s new animation ‘Wish Cat, the Cat That Grants Wishes’ will premiere on SBS on the 12th at 5:50 PM and on Tooniverse on the 20th at 6:00 PM.
