Pulmuone is showing strong performance. The news of exporting frozen gimbap to China seems to have had an impact.
As of 10:33 AM on the 12th, Pulmuone was trading at 10,600 KRW, up 470 KRW (4.64%) from the previous trading day.
Pulmuone announced on the same day that it has started selling frozen gimbap at Sam’s Club, a major distribution channel in China.
The export product is ‘Tuna KimBap’ (Korean-style tuna gimbap), sold in packs of three tuna gimbap rolls. It recently began sales at all 49 Sam’s Club locations across China. The company plans to export a total of 136,000 packs, equivalent to over 400,000 individual gimbap rolls, to China by September. The company aims to export approximately 620,000 packs annually.
According to Pulmuone, to export food products to China, it is necessary to register as an overseas food production company with local authorities. In this process, they received assistance from the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in China and the Beijing branch of the Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation (aT).
Yoon Sung-won, Head of Marketing at Pulmuone’s China subsidiary, said, “Based on the verified performance of frozen gimbap at Sam’s Club, we plan to expand to other channels and promote the expansion of the Korean rice category. We will make this frozen gimbap export an opportunity to secure a leading position in the Chinese frozen K-Street food market.”
