Hong Taeyong, the mayor of Gimhae, Gyeongnam, participated in a meal service for elderly individuals at risk of malnutrition at the free meal center in Bonghwang-dong Senior Welfare Center on the 11th in celebration of Chuseok.
Wearing an apron, sanitary cap, and mask, Mayor Hong personally served food and handed out meal trays, offering holiday greetings to the seniors.
He also visited the tables where the seniors were dining, engaged in conversations, and listened to their feedback on site.
He expressed his gratitude to the volunteers from the Korean Red Cross Gimhae District Council, the organization operating the meal center.

One elderly participant said, "A meal here gives me great energy as I live alone," expressing appreciation to the city and the volunteer organizations.
Mayor Hong stated, "I am pleased to participate in this volunteer activity, providing a heartfelt meal to seniors for Chuseok," and added, "I will continue to implement welfare policies with the mindset of caring for our parents."
Gimhae City is conducting a meal support program that provides food and checks the health status of low-income seniors in the area through 11 free meal centers and 4 meal delivery agencies.
On this day, about 170 seniors visited the Bonghwang-dong Senior Welfare Center and finished their meals.
