Hong Kong's investment promotion agency, Invest Hong Kong, jointly held the 'Artificial Intelligence (AI) Hong Kong Investment Seminar' with the Korea Artificial Intelligence Association on the 11th at the Westin Chosun Hotel in Jung-gu, Seoul.

The seminar, held under the theme 'The Age of Artificial Intelligence: Exploring the Future and Opportunities in Hong Kong and Beyond,' was attended by about 120 domestic company officials engaged in innovative technology industries such as the AI industry.


The event began with an opening address by Kim Geon-hoon, Executive Vice President of the Korea Artificial Intelligence Association, followed by presentations from Andy Wong, Head of Innovation Technology Team at Invest Hong Kong; Oh Ki-seok, Head of Craft Technologies Hong Kong Branch; Anita Chau, Director of Hong Kong-Shenzhen Innovation and Technology Institute; and Rebecca So, Head of Marketing at Cyberport.


In his opening remarks, Kim Geon-hoon, Executive Vice President of the Korea Artificial Intelligence Association, said, "This event was organized to help Korean AI companies pioneer new markets and grow into global enterprises," adding, "Today, Hong Kong is a land of opportunity where companies can seek expansion into mainland China."

In the first presentation, Andy Wong, Head of Innovation Technology Team at Invest Hong Kong, emphasized, "The Hong Kong government plans to support companies' growth through the opening of the AI Supercomputing Centre (AISC), the introduction of AI subsidies worth 300 million Hong Kong dollars, and an innovation industry development plan worth 10 billion Hong Kong dollars," adding, "Hong Kong is considered an ideal location for startups looking to expand their business into the Asian region."


In the following presentation, Oh Ki-seok, Head of Craft Technologies Hong Kong Branch, a domestic AI financial company, shared a successful case of entering the Hong Kong market, stating, "Hong Kong has advantageous conditions in terms of funding support, talent pool, and living environment," and said, "Hong Kong can be utilized as a forward base for the global market."


Anita Chau, Director of the Hong Kong-Shenzhen Innovation and Technology Institute, introduced the 'Greater Bay Area' encompassing Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macau, and explained how domestic AI companies can create business opportunities in the region by utilizing the Hong Kong-Shenzhen Innovation and Technology Institute.


Rebecca So, Head of Marketing at Cyberport, an IT industrial complex in Hong Kong, introduced various support programs for innovative technology businesses including AI, encouraging domestic companies to actively enter the Hong Kong market.


Andy Wong of Invest Hong Kong emphasized, "Hong Kong provides the optimal environment for global companies to grow in innovation and technology sectors," and added, "We will spare no effort to provide maximum support so that Korea's AI companies with global competitiveness can use Hong Kong as a foothold to enter the global market."


Invest Hong Kong, established in July 2000, is an official investment promotion agency under the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government. It attracts foreign direct investment to Hong Kong and facilitates business operations by providing necessary information and various support services for business and investment in Hong Kong.
